Granulocyte colony-stimulating factors (G-CSFs) promote the growth of neutrophils. Their use reduces the severity and duration of neutropenia, one of the most common and serious complications of cancer patients after treatment with cytotoxic chemotherapy, decreases the risk of infection, and improves the tolerance to chemotherapy.
